  10. *Here is the version 1.1 of the story I posted earlier. If you have it,
  11. *discard it and save this one instead. I changed few names and scenes to
  12. *correct the terminology in GUNDAM as well as ST:TNG. Watch out for the
  13. *part two which will be posted before end of this month. (I hope.)

  15.  Recently, I was very interested in those StarTrek stories involving
  16. StarWars and Battlestar Galactica. And then, I had thinking. Hey ! What
  17. if I write the star trek story where the Enterprise is thrown into the
  18. another dimension while investigating abnormal phenomenon. The dimension
  19. they are got into is not identical. Its technology level is at 21st
  20. century in star trek universe but with a few twists. In this universe,
  21. more than half of mankind live around the artificial colonies -Side-
  22. around Earth and moon. There was a war that last a year between Earth
  23. Federation and Zeon Archduchy about 15 years before the Enterprise's
  24. visit. Again this time, mankind was being dragged into the another war.
  25. Throughout the story, there will be many of terminology especially in
  26. GUNDAM part you don't understand. (I recommend Yoshiyuki Tomino's Mobile
  27. Suit GUNDAM novel series from Del Rey Book.) Look for the Mobile Suit
  28. History part 1 on the OZ SF in the InterNet or Zone 3 SF in the FidoNet.

  36.  This story is based on ST:TNG and MS GUNDAM. They both are registered
  37. trademark of their respective holders, Paramount Pictures and Sunrise
  38. Inc.

  40. Part One

  42.         Captain's Log:Stardate 47116.7
  43.         We are heading to the VEGA-5 in Beta-Epsilon system to
  44.         investigate the sudden activity of ion storm. According to the
  45.         past record there hasn't been any ion storm activity for nearly
  46.         five hundred standard years.
  47.  
  48.  Captain Jean-Luc Picard turned off the log switch and faced the main
  49. viewer. A golden colour skinned android is at the helm and a female
  50. Bajoran ensign is at the navigator. His klingon security chief is at the
  51. back side of the bridge. On his right side, his First Officer and on his
  52. left side, ship's counselor were seated. "Mr Data, status?" An android
  53. officer at the helm turned around and faced him. "Captain, I have not
  54. able to determin the exact cause of this ion storm yet. However, from
  55. long range scan and the past record I can safely deduce that it is very
  56. unlikely to be happened. Therefore there is high probability that it is
  57. not natural phenomenon and ..." "Thank you, Mr Data." Captain Picard cut
  58. off his second in command and turn to a beard man sitting next to him.
  59. "Number One, what do you think about this?  Don't you think it's a bit
  60. weird? I mean about this sudden ion storm activity." Cmdr William T.
  61. Riker smirked as he spoke. "Well... captain, tell you the truth, I have
  62. this gut feeling that somebody is behind this if it's not natural one."
  63. He then asked to Data. "Mr Data, what is the our ETA?" Lt. Cmdr Data
  64. answered at once. "At the current speed, it will take 3 hours 43 minutes
  65. 31 seconds, commander." "Number One, I'll be in my ready room if you
  66. need me. You have the conn." Captain Picard rose up from his chair and
  67. walked to his ready room thinking about the journal he was reading
  68. lately.

  72.  Suddenly a mobile suit at his right exploded. Kamiu Ingram turned his
  73. face away and closed his eyes. It wasn't because of the brightness as
  74. his helmet's visor can block out bur rather it's because the enemy pilot
  75. hadn't got a chance to escape. It was chilling reality that few pilots
  76. actually had the chance to escape in the combat with advanced escape
  77. module. Most of them were trapped inside when mobile suits' nuclear
  78. fission reactor exploded. But he couldn't afford the luxury for much
  79. longer. He sensed another MARASAI was coming toward his Z-SR. Without
  80. glancing the front panel he fired the beam rifle to that direction and
  81. maneuvered his mobile suit under the remains of TITANZ warship. After
  82. confirmed the target was destroied he found the air-warning light was
  83. blinking and the last beam pack was almost discharged. 'Damm. I told
  84. them there is something wrong with this cockpit module.' Kamiu cursed
  85. those stubby technicians and quickly changed into the waverider form.
  86. Soon he flew out from the battle field and headed to the AGAMA at high
  87. speed.

  89.  The battle between TITANZ and AEUG escalated to the full scale war.
  90. Initially assembled to defend Side colonies from Zeon military, TITANZ
  91. soon became the task force to govern the spacenoid movement. When TITANZ
  92. killed millions of people in Side 5, spacenoid had had enough and
  93. assembled their own force. It was called AEUG. As TITANZ was entirely
  94. assembled with Earth born elite soldiers, many of space born Federation
  95. soldiers joined AEUG. Therefore the war became the struggle between the
  96. Earth-bound people and spacenoids. Although Federation Government hadn't
  97. decide their policy yet, few politicians in the power secretly supported
  98. either TITANZ or AEUG for their own purposes. With these people's
  99. financial support both sides were developing new models of mobile suits
  100. and put many of prototypes into the front line. Ironically both sides
  101. mobile suits were developed by the Anehime Electronics at the moon.

  105.  Captain Picard was watching the stars passing by as the Enterprise
  106. cruised at the warp 9.2 after finishing the journal when the intercom
  107. sounded. "Riker to Captain." "Yes, Number One." "Captain, we're five
  108. minutes from the Beta-Epsilon system." Picard rose from his desk and
  109. walked toward the door. "I'm on my way. Picard out."

  111.  He stepped into the bridge and sat down on his commanding chair at the
  112. centre of the bridge. "Status, Mr Data." An android officer faced the
  113. captain and started to speak. "Captain, I ran the wide range sensor
  114. scanner since we entered the system. It appears to be this ion storm is
  115. highly localised at the north pole of the VEGA-5 and this causes major
  116. ecosystem disturbance, sir." "Can we beam down the away team without any
  117. danger ?" "According the anaysis, this ion storm is unlikely any others
  118. we have encountered before, sir." Data then imitated the frown as he
  119. kept talking. "However, since our scanner can not get clear reading
  120. around the ion storm activity area so it would be wise to avoid that
  121. area, sir." "Thank you, Mr Data. Number One assemble the away team."
  122. "Right away, Captain." Riker rose from his chair and touched his comm
  123. badge as he walked to the turbo lift. "Dr Crusher, Geordi, Ensign DeSora
  124. and Ensign T'Selkor meet me at the transport room three."

  128.  "This is ensign Kamiu, request the permission to land." "Ensign Kamiu,
  129. proceed the number three hatch. And Kamiu, well done." A young blond
  130. girl in the comm screen smiled to him. "Thanks Illia." He transformed
  131. his Z-SR into humanoid form and approached the hanger bay three. Follow
  132. the green indicators he landed in one perfect step. After turned off the
  133. main engine he opened the cockpit hatch and jumped down. "Hey!  Kamiu!
  134. There was a message for you from Anehime Electronics. They said the
  135. upgrade part for Z-SR is ready and will be here in three days." One of
  136. the mechanics on the deck shouted to him. "Thank you, Monsha. Could you
  137. check the Z-SR's cockpit? The air-warning light is on again." "O.K.
  138. I'll fix it for you before next scramble."

  142.         Captain's Log: Supplement.
  143.         We have arrived the VEGA-5 and now the away team is beaming down
  144.         to the surface to investigate the cause of this strange
  145.         phenomenon.
  146.  The VEGA-5 is M-class planet and famous for its very unique ecosystem.
  147. There is no intelligent life form but the diversity of the animal and
  148. the plant more than enough to attract many of Federation scientists in
  149. the past. However, now with this ion storm all scientists were already
  150. evacuated to the StarBase 148. When the away team were beamed down to
  151. the surface they found they were in the path of a big rain storm coming
  152. towards them. They quickly ran to the observation station which stood
  153. nearby. "Commander, I think we'd better watch this storm carefully.
  154. It's not natural, sir." "What do you mean it's not natural ?" Riker

  181. Z-SR upgrade parts?" A fat man in his 20s talked to Kamiu as he was
  182. heading to his quarter. "Yes, I heard that." "Well, do you know what the
  183. new parts are?" Kamiu frowned little bit as he answered. "No, I haven't
  184. got a time to get the detail yet. But I'll as soon as I get some sleep."
  185. The fat guy shaken his head as kept talking. "You won't believe this.
  186. They're going to upgrade Z-SR to full psycho-controlled mobile suit."
  187. "What ? Did you say psycho-controlled ? I thought that's still on the
  188. drawing board. They said it's still few years away before we could see a
  189. prototype." The technician smiled at Kamiu's comment. "You know these
  190. people. They think it's safer to hide the fact but actually it's already
  191. passed the beta-stage and the Z-SR will be the first psycho-controlled
  192. mobile suit." 'So they're now officially use NT as a weapon.' Kamiu's
  193. face clouded at the though of using NT as the new weapon and not
  194. considered the potential it could bring to humankind. "By the way, I've
  195. never heard about this guy, Trafalga before." Ensign Edward O'Brian
  196. smiled before he opened his mouth. "Well, actually it's a woman. They
  197. said it couldn't be possible if it wasn't her new theory about the new
  198. psycho-frame. Anyway, we'll see when it's get here. Have a sweet dream,
  199. Kamiu." "Thanks Edward. See you later." After entered his quarter he
  200. found there is a message from Far Yurie but he decided it could wait.
  201. He fallen into the sleep soon.

  205.  "Is there any report from the away team, yet ?" Captain Picard rose and
  206. walked towards the main viewer. The VEGA-5 looked a lot like Earth with
  207. the exception of big moon. "No, captain. It's still five minutes away
  208. before they'll report, sir." Ensign Ro at the navigator answered back.
  209. Picard then walk towards a Deannan Troi and asked at lower voice.
  210. "Counselor, do you feel anything ?" "Captain, I'm feeling a great
  211. concern from you." Deannan Troi told as she smiled. Picard returned the
  212. smile. "Well... captain. I can't really tell anything specific. I
  213. thought I felt something when we were enter the system but as soon as I
  214. felt it's gone and now I can't detect anything." Picard sat down on his
  215. chair and tugged down his uniform as he turned his head slightly upward
  216. and called out a bit loudly. "Mr O'Brian, do you still have the lock on
  217. the away team ?" "Of course, captain. I have them as solid as rock,
  218. sir." "Keep the good work, chief. Picard out." Suddenly Data turned
  219. around. "Captain, I am  detecting the ion storm is spreading out very
  220. rapidly and it's now moving into the orbit from the surface." Picard
  221. yelled on his comment. "Mr O'Brian, beam up the away team, now." "Yes,
  222. sir... Captain, I got very intense interference around the beam down
  223. area. I think I got them but the signals a bit weak so now I'm
  224. attempting to boost up." Slowly, four figures remateralised on the
  225. transport platform. As soon as the beaming is completed Riker touched
  226. his comm badge. "Riker to captain." "Yes, Number One." "Captain, as soon
  227. as we arrived there was a big storm as if it's waiting for us. So all
  228. the time, we were trapped inside the observation station." "How odd,
  229. Number One. Mr Data is also detecting the ion storm is now moving
  230. towards us." Riker frowned deeply. "I'm on my way to the bridge, sir.
  231. Riker out." Riker quickly stepped into the turbo lift and spoke.

  236.  "Ensign Kamiu, report to the briefing room, immediately." He woke up by
  237. sudden announcement. 'Yea, and you report here you-f_SENSORED_hole.'
  238. When he arrived, the room was already full for with pilots. "Have a
  239. seat, Ensign" Lt. South Burning who was in his 50s with a big scar in
  240. his left face stopped talking as Kamiu sat on the chair. "As I was
  241. saying, this mission is easy one but I want all of you do their best.
  242. You can't treat any mission lightly. You never know what'll wait for you
  243. out there. We'll escort a cargo ship from the Granada to the Side 5.
  244. They're carrying important research mobile suits prototypes. We mustn't
  245. let TITANZ get these units. If necessary, you have to destroy the cargo
  246. ship before it fallen into TITANZ's hand.  Ensign Kamiu, you'll lead the
  247. group and I and Sharman will keep the eye on the back. Rest of you will
  248. guard in delta formation. The depart time is 0700 hour. Any question?"
  249. The room was silent. "All right, then. Dismissed."
